Viral Tweet About 'The Bear' Inspires Celebration of Line Cooks

Line cooks seem to be the talk of the town lately. Memes about the surly yet sweet restaurant workers seem to be on the rise, and all of them are super favorable. The gritty and comedic glimpse into kitchen life we've been seeing on The Bear seems to be bolstering the trend. At least that's what it seems like based on the response to a viral tweet about the 8 episode series.

  • While she admits she's never seen the series, @thesarahyork revealed her excitement at the fact that the general public is learning about a type of “Sexually Competent Dirtbag” that's only found in restaurant kitchens. Our first thought? Carmen (Jeremy Allen White) is far from a dirtbag. But we're gonna let this slide because her next tweets paint a very real picture of a very real character I've encountered at all my restaurant jobs.

    Seems like this guy is going to be having a pretty good summer.

  • While my own intimate experience with a line cook was a lot different (I still hate you, Aaron), it's nice to see the good guys get the praise they deserve. I'll never forget all the plates of food I scored, all the beer glasses cheered, and all the shared hungover cigarettes. Here's to you, line cooks. You're a special breed.
